About the Role:

We are now seeking a Veterinary Surgeon (VS), the role is responsible for the delivery of an efficient, professional and caring service to PDSA clients, providing a high standard of customer service and clinical care whilst also promoting pet wellbeing and delivering preventive services.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of 8 vets in our large, modern, purpose-built and well equipped Pet Hospital. We are a relatively young, friendly and motivated team with an excellent and varied caseload beyond any you are likely to see in first-opinion private practice. We are dedicated to continuous professional development with a proven recent history of supporting the completion of surgery certificates.

Our Basildon Pet Hospital has 6 consulting rooms; 2 dedicated theatres; separate dental theatre; large prep area; separate dog and cat kennelling; digital radiography; ultrasound; endoscopy; piped gases; extensive orthopaedic equipment and a supportive team of experienced vets, registered veterinary nurses (VNs) and veterinary care assistants (VCAs). We use our staff to their full potential so our registered VNs routinely perform consultations and Schedule 3 surgeries within their capabilities.

This position offers excellent work-life balance with a 37.5 hour working week including no OOH, weekends shared on a 1:7 basis and an early finish most weeks.

About You:

The successful candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon and responsible for updating their knowledge by attending regular CPD training. You will be involved in all aspects of clinical governance at the Pet Hospital, responsible for managing cases cost-effectively, encouraging financial contributions from clients, and making sure that PDSA resources are used appropriately.
